Analytic Review and Quality Control
How to acheive and maintain quality analytic production.
Course Description:
This course is designed for mid-to-senior-level intelligence analysts’ and supervisors’ to develop their ability to conduct effective reviews of intelligence reports and briefings, and better ensure these products meet their clients’ needs. This course will explore the differences between editing, reviewing, and evaluating intelligence products, the different levels and purposes of analytic review, and the roles first-line supervisors, intelligence managers, and senior intelligence officials play in this process. Finally, participants will use sample products and practical guides and worksheets to practice identifying strengths and shortcomings in intelligence reports, and practice giving clear, consistent reviews and feedback to improve the analytic production.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Understand the value of implementing a standardized review and evaluation process
Conceptualize how to establish a standardized review and evaluation process in your own organization
Conduct effective, efficient senior review and evaluation of intelligence reports
Demonstrate effective, efficient senior review and evaluation of intelligence reports to others in your organization

Overview of Production, Review, and Evaluation standards and goals
Review roles of different levels of analytic management
Process of pre-dissemination review
First-level review practical exercise
Day 2:
First-level review practical exercise (continued)
Second-level review practical exercise
Day 3:
Organizational standards and quality
Process of post-dissemination evaluation
Post-dissemination review practical exercise
Who this course is for:
This course is ideal for mid-to-senior intelligence analysts responsible for analytic production, review, and quality control.
Course Prerequisites:
There are no prerequisites, but we strongly recommend taking our Analytic Intelligence Production course before this course. Participants should already have a good understanding the fundamentals of analytic intelligence production before participating in this course.
Duration:
In-Person Classroom Training: 3 Days, 7 hours of instruction per day*
Virtual/Remote Training: 3 days, 3.5 hours of instruction per day*
* We offer this class both as an in-person classroom event and as online, remote instruction. While the material and instruction is consistent between the two, we are able to offer practical exercises and personal instructor support to the training in-person that we are not able to offer remotely.
